Currently I'm working on the electrical topics. As a first step I compiled an electrical schematic out of the various illustrations in the books and manuals. I don't have an original ignition and light switch, therefore I need some modifications.

Now I'm busy with the cut-off relay. My cut-off relay has a malfunction, it connects the generator signal lamp not against ground, falsely it switches the lamp against positive generator voltage. Based on the figures and descriptions in the Palmer bible I assumed to have a reproduction cut-off relay. But why the heck this relay performs a wrong switching of the generator signal lamp is still not clear to me. Don't get me wrong, electrical wise I understand the wrong switching, but why they made a wrong working reproduction relay - this is not clear.

Some hours later - considering back- and forwards - I recognized that in the Palmer book (German 1st edition, page 367, right side photo) the figure captions were swapped. I do have an original cut-off relay.

After I drilled out the old and burned contact rivets, the fog cleared up. A former specialist already replaced a contact rivet but dropped the insulating plate in between. That's the root cause for the wrong switching behavior of the relay. I will try to get new contact rivets - very difficult - but we will see. Christmas is also knocking on the door...

Until I can continue on the relay, I mount the horn and the left and right foot board side bars.
Meanwhile I'm working on the instrument panel base. The old reproduction side bulb sockets are neither nicely fitting nor of good quality. So I decided to manufacture the sockets by myself - as much according to the original as possible. I also manufactured the panel light shields. Have a look at the pictures to see the results.

Today is the December, the 24th. I'm mounting the front fender on the springer fork. I fixed the wiring of the fender lamp on my own way - the original required pipe for the wire does not exists on my reproduction fender. Later on I will kiss my wife and unpack the presents - or vice versa...
Applying a protecting wax at the inner side of the fender
Front fender with protecting wax
Rear fender with protecting wax
Manufactured components of the cut-off relay - with a provisional contact rivet
Mounted horn - lower mounting horn bracket is still not fixed on the front fender
Horn terminal plate - without wiring
Yep, this is junk!
But see...
... what can be done out of it!
The old side bulb sockets are neither nicely fitting nor of good quality.
Disassembling the old sockets...
... in addition with the previous manufactured bulb sockets plates...
... soldering them together.
All manufactured pieces of my home-made bulb sockets
Ready mounted bulb sockets.
The buld socket insulators were re-used from coolers for electronic semiconductor components.
Manufactured panel light shields.
Mounted front fender.
