Now it is the right time to think about the new painting. Should it be again a two-tone painting? I watched a lot of photographs in my Harley books for inspiration.

Finally I decided to have a dark green and cream combination. The paintings of old British cars inspired me finally. I also studied the original color combinations - offered by Harley for the civil 45er until 1945 - but nothing I was in favour of.

The read fender - not an original one - has already a lot of holes - based on the several modifications of the pre-owners. I decided to buy a new reproduction fender. This is much more cheaper, rather to ask a professional to cover the holes by welding and to restore the curved surface of the fender.

After sand-blasting the tank, former modifications were visible. It seems that the bike had a minor accident before. This goes along with the bent springer fork - which I fixed it in former time. I mean, that's not really a surprise on a 70 year old bike. Old ladies knowing lot of secrets...
I started now carefully inspecting the parts and to scribble down which parts I need to replace. Due to the fact, that the wife and kids will be in US end of the month, I need to hurry up to compile my shopping list.

Meanwhile I used the time to give a full service to my Sportster. Changing all the fluids was more than overdue.

At the end of the month I got a call from Andy. The powder coated frame and other parts are ready to pick up. This is the beginning of the constructive project phase. The assembly starts!
