Glory awaits you at the finish line.

On the way to infinite fame, all the small obstacles have to be wiped away. Erich and I started to adjust the ignition. For this purpose we developed a declination meter to check if the advance weights are able to rotate the cam by nearby 15 degree, which corresponds to a 30 degree more advanced timing. Moreover it turned out that the original ignition system was replaced by a electronic ignition system. As long as it works reliable, no need to change.

The bike now does not hit back on the kick start anymore. Nevertheless, kick-starting this bike is still a challenge. The final adjustment of the carburetor is still not done. The bike requires some patience. In the past 10 years it was moved only a few hundred miles and since March 2015 no significant movement at all.

The next obstacle is the rattle of the front brake calipers. I inserted a rubber buffer between the brake caliper and the front fork tube, just tight enough to allow the caliper to be referred to as floating brake system. In order to completely remove the rattle, the worn out bushings have to be replaced also.

The remaining work was mainly cleaning and polishing.

The next day the bike was transported on a trailer for the technical approval. Erich accompanied me and significantly reduced my nervousness. Well, what to say? Is just take 15 minutes for the technical inspector to get convinced. He made a short test ride and gave his approval. Two days later I was able to pick up the approval documents.

The next day we went to the registration authorities. There was a discussion regarding the vehicle title ongoing – caused by the lean on this title. I followed this needless conversation among them, but finally this issue got resolved. I even didn’t need to show the lean release document. Not sure why the German registration authority has to care about this.

Finally, the unavoidable happened. The next day, the first test ride was successfully executed. No nuts or bolts got lost. The final adjustment of the carburetor and the clutch, as also the removal of the front brake rattle will be the upcoming tasks. Apart from this, the bike is running well (watch video), rough vibrations paired with an excellent acoustic arrangement keeps the smile on the face.
