Already decided to shift the project to 2016 and out of a sudden this offer appeared:

1979 Harley-Davidson FXE Super Glide - 4.500 USD

The images are showing a Shovelhead Big Twin, in good condition, having only view modifications and - in addition - having a low mileage – just 9k miles. Yes indeed, the color and flames are not my favourite’s one. Anyhow, this will get changed. The seller is an official Harley-Davidson dealer from Mauston, WI - from Milwaukee heading 200 miles westwards.

As a response to my initial request, the seller sent me the latest service invoices of that bike. Looking to those invoices – compared with the images – the low mileage seems to be trustable. Nevertheless the real mileage is unknown.

As usual, before I make such a decision to buy the bike, there has always one night in between. On the next day the contract was closed.

Now I’m the buyer of a Shovelhead. To become the owner of this bike, I just have to blow the Dollars over the ocean. If you never had to deal with wiring money to US, it may be confusing to you, to deal with all the numbers, because the Germany account numbering system is different. Luckily the fees for such a transaction were less than expected.
To become the possessor of the bike a lot needs to be organized. How to transport the bike to a harbour on the east coast, how to ship it to Germany, how to transport it to my home? Asking for quotes, compare them and decide - step by step.

Regarding the transportation of the bike through US - I got a hint from the seller. This was definitely a good starting point.
